My new place is not without challenges. It is an old house (built in 1900) in an old tree-lined neighborhood. I have a giant maple tree in my front yard which is filled with acorns. None of these facts are inherently challenges I will grant you. But this is:
Anyone who knows me well or has read this blog for awhile knows how very afraid I am of squirrels. Remember this?
Well, recently whenever I walk past my back door...this is what I see. There are actually two of them ( I call them Heckle and Jekyll). Not only are they squirrels...but they are black squirrels so their eyes and their bodies match. terrifying. Plus, they stare in my back door and make this weird sound that is a cross between a moan and (I hate to even say it) a chuckle. Not good.
They are crazed for burying acorns...which is fine by me. I think they are trying to warn me not to go dig up their treasures...which I have no intention of doing. I promise. Can someone get that message out to them? (sigh)
I've heard that Traverse City squirrels are really nice and laidback...unlike the Chicago squirrels that enjoy using people's heads as mosh pits.
Your squirrel stories still make me laugh.
