despite the chilly temperatures! This morning at the farmers market the crowds gave no indication of the unseasonably cool weather. Everyone was happily shopping for the first crops of the season...asparagus, lettuce, spring onions and flats of annuals were in great abundance. These peonies called my name, loudly. Peonies are among my favorite flowers with their giant blooms and intense colors they are such a nice sight after a long winter! I am lucky enough to have moved into a house with established lilac bushes (also favorites of mine) but this past week saw their blooming come to a close...so the delicate fragrance of these beauties is now gracing my living room instead. It will be a couple of years before the new peony bush I planted will take off with blossoms of its own...so I was happy to find a vendor selling them!
I am so anxious for summer weather I can hardly stand it... My yard is planted, my porch is ready to roll...now to get a few evenings warm enough to actually go and sit on it after getting home from work! There is something so magical about the long summer days to me, and last year was such a blur with moving up here, working on the house, looking for a job, and all the stress that goes along with transitions...I am just ready to savor every moment this year.
Alas, we'll have to struggle through a few more chilly days, it seems. That should make the warm ones to come feel even more special...
